Hazel Carter-Showell

Hazel Carter-Showell

Hazel is a founding Director of CarterCorson, a business psychology consultancy providing people-based solutions to the public and private sectors. With almost twenty years experience of executive recruitment and management consultancy, she is a business graduate, Fellow of the CIPD with postgraduate qualifications in management development and is an expert in human behaviour at work, with a track record of corporate transformation in major blue chip organisations.

From a background in business turnaround and management development, Hazel brings a strong business focus to the application of psychology. She is an experienced executive coach and has led senior

management and Board development programmes for organisations such as Unilever, Barclays, HSBC, the National Assembly for Wales, the Scottish Parliament, GMTV, PwC, Ernst & Young and Aviva amongst many and with a range of high growth SMEs.

Hazel has also worked with the NHS for over twelve years, and designed the NHS London 2012 Chief Executive and Director Leadership Capability Models. She is currently working with the House of Commons on management and leadership development, and is a visiting lecturer in leadership at Manchester University.

John Corson

John Corson

John is a founding Director of CarterCorson. He is a qualified accountant with more than thirty years of experience working as an executive in a number of industry sectors. Since 1995, John has focused on the impact of human behaviour at work and acted as corporate advisor to a number of clients to resolve strategic and operational problems. John is a member of the ICF (International Coach Federation).

With his senior level background, John applies his broad organisational experience and knowledge of psychology to improve management and business performance. 

John is an experienced executive coach and has delivered successful executive coaching programmes for Skype, Unilever, AstraZeneca, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Grant Thornton, E C Harris, ThyssenKrupp and Capita amongst many. John has also worked at regional and national level with the NHS for over twelve years.

Jennifer Hughes

Jennifer Hughes

Jennifer is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist within CarterCorson and has worked in consultancy for more than nine years. She is a member of the British Psychological Society and holds both Level A and B Certificates in Psychometric Testing. Jennifer is registered with the Health Professionals Council as a Practitioner Psychologist. Jennifer's professional background is in executive assessment and this remains a specialism. She is also an experienced executive trainer and a member of the ICF (International Coach Federation).

Jennifer has led and co-delivered a significant number of group development programmes for senior managers and partners in a wide range of organisations, including public sector, blue chip plcs and SMEs, with a particular focus on leadership and interpersonal skills.

Jennifer also works extensively within the NHS, both regionally and nationally, in the fields of assessment and development. 

Louise Baylis

Louise Baylis

Louise is a Consultant within CarterCorson; she holds an MSc in Organisational Psychology and was awarded joint First Prize in SHL’s MSc Research Project Prize in 2007. A member of the British Psychological Society and Division of Occupational Psychology, Louise is currently working to gain Chartered Psychologist status. She has focused her career around the development of individuals, initially within an educational setting as a teacher, and later gaining in-depth experience in commercial environments.

Louise has developed solutions to support Organisational Development, including overseeing projects on International Cultural awareness, Change Management, and Service Excellence Culture. She has delivered training and assessment within the NHS, Defence/Aerospace industry, and Business Process Outsourcing. Louise also has experience in process methodologies, including Six Sigma and Lean principles.

Julia Sandford

Julia is an experienced Business Psychologist, with twelve years consultancy experience in the public and private sectors. Julia specialises in leadership development, assessment and selection, and corporate & personal performance coaching. She has an honours degree in Psychology, an MSc in Organisational Psychology, and has supplementary Diplomas in Personal Performance Coaching and Corporate & Executive Coaching, as well as BPS Certificates in Psychometric Testing, levels A & B.

She is a member of the British Psychological Society, the Division of Occupational Psychology, and the Special Group in Coaching Psychology. Julia has ongoing links with Manchester Business School,where she has delivered training and seminars in leadership, organisational change, selection and assessment, team-building, transferable management skills, creativity and innovation.

Polly Robinson

Polly is Project Co-ordinator for CarterCorson and is responsible for research, client liaison, logistics and day-to-day management of projects and programmes. Polly has a BSc in Psychology, an MSc in Occupational Psychology, and is qualified in BPS Level A and Level B occupational testing for employee recruitment and development.

She is experienced in job analysis and profiling, and has over three years experience of working with the NHS to senior level.

Sue Stobart

Sue is a senior assessment and development associate with over fourteen years experience of recruitment, assessment and development consultancy across a wide range of clients from financial services to public sector. Experienced in client management, consultation and recruitment up to board level for FTSE 250 and SMEs, Sue developed her early career in blue-chip sales & marketing before moving to the not-for-profit sector where she spent four years as a director of a UK charity.

Expert in delivery methodology including competency based interviewing, group exercises, psychometric profiling and ability testing, Sue is also experienced in the delivery and design of assessment centres including graduate recruitment, customer service roles and internal development. Sue has worked with a wide range of clients from both public and private sector, including HM Treasury, Unilever, British Gas, e.on and Sky. She has worked with the NHS for over six years at senior level. .

David Lowe

David Lowe

David is a Consultant with CarterCorson and operates as a management consultant in the field of strategic and relationship marketing. He has an honours degree in Business Studies, is an excellent networker and has developed strong working relationships with senior personnel in both the public and private sectors over the last 15 years. He currently sits on the steering group of 'finest', the North Staffordshire network for professional services which consists of around 130 dynamic and successful practitioners in the professional sector, ranging from multi-nationals and household names, to specialist local providers.

David holds both Level A and B Certificates in Psychometric Testing and is experienced in delivering senior assessment and development centres as well as mentoring to senior professionals. Whilst the majority of David’s professional work involves consultancy in the wider commercial sector it also includes specialist consultancy and public speaking with respect to Carbon Reduction, Fuel Poverty and Health.
